So I have a nomination through my Air Force JROTC unit. Is it harder to get in with JUST this nom rather than one through my congressman also? Still waiting to hear back on whether I was selected for it, but worst case scenario I don’t receive the nom and am left with this on my application. Any word of advice?

"(4)
20 nominated by the Secretary of the Navy, under regulations prescribed by him, from the honor graduates of schools designated as honor schools by the Department of the Army, the Department of the Navy, or the Department of the Air Force, and from members of the Naval Reserve Officer’s Training corps."

Per Title 10 USC section 8454, 20 Midshipan nominated may be appointed per annum

Basically, there are 20 APPOINTMENTS available for ROTC, and Honor JROTC schools. Probably not a good idea to count on this, you are competing against senior ROTC programs (college) whose applicants usually have ROTC recommendations, have proven themselves as worthy by participating on an ROTC program for a year, and have completed rigorous college courses. They are there, but they are not plentiful....much better to get a nom from a MOC, generally a 1-10 chance of appointment.

ALWAYS apply for ALL noms you are capable of getting!!!

Unless your Air Force JROTC unit is an honor unit, you are not eligible to use that nomination for the Naval Academy.
