Ok so I will be the one. Yes, the one who has read the instructions a million times, the one who has been married to a USCGA grad for 30 years and should know the answer and the one who knows well enough if you needed it the military would have issued it to you.
Understanding all the above - I am still so confused. My DD would like to bring an OTC face wash as it helps control her blemishes and dry skin (stop rolling your eyes). I have read in the PTR- on this site and on the BLB FB page that it is ok to bring these type of things. Where I am confused is that you can put them in your "back pack" that will then be taken away from you and you will not see it again for several weeks. How do we pack? I understand the cell phone and all that goes away but what about personal hygiene items? The PRT mentions you can bring extra socks, undies, bras and athletic shoes.

Now, once yall are done laughing and mumbling under your breath "really, really that is what she is worried about" "no time for special face wash when your shower time is like 2 mins" I look forward to your "KIND" remarks and "Help". Oh and this is where I am glad we do not use our real names or Our P2B name.

I am sure a current mid or recent grad will provide insight, and good tips.

In the meantime, a quick text exchange with a sponsor daughter who will be a PS Co Commander (Bwahhaha) indicated the backpack will do its luggage duty and convey items to the room that will stay in the room. Your DD will also be lugging all kinds of stuff. It's the sponsor mid's understanding once the backpack has served its purpose, it, any civilian clothes, cell and other not allowed items will be collected. She also said organizing stuff into gallon or quart baggies was something that helped her on I-Day. She couldn't remember much else from that day.

The PTR pretty much spells out what you need to pack. Your DD will have time to apply the face wash in the evenings (30 minutes of free time is allotted every night during Plebe Summer). On I-Day, you are issued a bunch of personal hygiene items. If your DD likes a specific brand of product (Let's just say Colgate for toothpaste as an example), she can bring those to use instead of the issued products (which she will get regardless). I didn't bring any additional undergarments/socks and I was fine. For athletic shoes, buy them a month or so before I-Day and run in them. Running in broken in shoes is a lot better than running in the issued ones.

Wear the running shoes to I Day, bring the extra socks, bras, t shirts, underwear and face wash in gallon zip lock bags. They will provide a few minutes to get the items. Also, if it gets taken before she has a chance all she has to do is ask. I know that sounds terrifying for a future Plebe to ask a Detailer, but seriously ask. Label the cell phone bag as required. Bring a wallet and a copy of all your documents in the backpack. Going to be honest here... the chance she has time to wash her face with that stuff is slim, maybe at night time. They sweat so much all summer not sure there is a product on the planet that will work for any of them. A few weeks into the academic year life slowly returns to a more "normal" pace (a new plebe normal) and they start to feel human again. I have worked about a dozen I Days. It honestly hasn't really changed much since it was moved to Alumni Hall many decades ago. The only big difference is we used to get off the bus between 7/8th wing and King Hall. That area was blocked off from parents so there wasn't the photo stalking that goes on today. I sort of wish it went back to that way.

DS was a plebe last year. You can always send her that stuff the first week too.
