Not well - but that is not the event that counts for points. The fall sailing event is the Shields Trophy at Navy.

Hmmmmm... we heard a rumor about that Power Squadron related a$$ kicking. Hope it was true
We did sail 418' of training vessels there....

Good Point! - but here are some other numbers on our flotilla-
6 boats
17 diesel engines
70 Midshipmen
6 boats x 3 watches x 2 transits = 36 Midshipman stood watch as OOD and 36 Midshipman stood watch as engineer.
6 boats x 24 hours underway x 2 fixes per hour= 288 fixes plotted
6 boats x 24 hours underway x 2 engine rounds per hour=288 engine rounds
Not bad training for a 36 hour event!

Does size really matter all that much? Just wondering the significance of the 418' ....
equivalent to the length of one of the USCG's fancy new National Security Cutters
I hesitate to say since it was overheard in a conversation between two CGA security officers who had no idea which side I was rooting for.
Let's just say it had to do with some attempted larceny on the not so high seas that was being attempted against one of our beloved craft. The security folk were remarking on the attempted "crime" and the deserved action against their own perpetrators.
It made me chuckle.
