My Swab is packing for R-Day. I swear I saw somewhere that everything (shirts, socks, etc.) must be labeled. DS is using a Sharpie and is concerned that he will be in trouble because the ink bleeds through. Does anyone have any insight on this?

We used a silver sharpie, but I have seen black sharpies recommended as well. We also are putting the extra sharpies in his first care package so he can label stuff that he needs to there!

Yes, everything must be labeled. The cadet handbook states, "Please label all of your belongings with your first initial and last name (e.g. J. Doe)." Some people use silver, especially for dark items. Others use labels. Most use a black sharpie for the majority of clothing. My daughter wrote right on the toes of the socks, back collar of shirts, and whatever spot seemed best for everything else. We also sent extra sharpies.
