Lack of Sleep

I HATED the shouting/kicking. I would have trouble falling asleep during Basic if I started thinking about the morning.

oooh but you didnt have the holy CQ enforcer stick of doom breaking your doors down every morning :)

imagine a softball bat wrapped in duct tape

:lolatyou:
THAT is great!

I never thought of that, but we did have the bullhorn siren...

Nick, I wouldnt worry about sleep too much.Youll have no problem waking up or falling asleep. The cadre will take care of that for you! Mine liked tossing cabinet shelves against the walls. I didnt prepare sleep wise and it wasnt too bad. I did fall asleep marching past the reviewing stand at noon meal formation one day and fell into the guy on my left.
Youre right about the first 10 mins. Once I made it past morning PT the rest of the day became alot easier. I cant say much about the year yet, but Ive been getting up at 620-630 to get ready for minutes and school. But for now, enjoy sleeping in and dont worry about sleep and basic. Youll adjust just fine!

What are minutes?

hahaha. they're the most fun 15 or so minutes of every doolies day! You stand out in the hallway calling how many minutes till the next meal, the uniform of the day, the officers of the day, the next air force day, the menu items for the upcoming meal, all while getting asked knowledge questions and getting in a little PT. :thumb:

I have a funny wakeup story. One kid (I think he was in Hellcats) was in his room on Day 2. The cadre woke him and his roomate by kicking the door. He kicked the door so hard he broke the lock on the door. The two guys couldn't open the door, so they went back to sleep. The entire time the cadre was getting chewed out by their AMT for breaking the door and other cadre were telling the basics not to sleep. It took a locksmith like 2 hours to get to the room and cut the lock out. By that time the Basics had missed the Swearing In Ceremony. It was funny how the kid told the story.

That happened to me, but day three, first Sunday. It was awesome. We had to have our blinds open so the cadre could make sure we weren't sleeping or anything. They got it fixed about 20 minutes before chapel, so the cadre brought us breakfast. Not the crap we all got during BCT, but the good stuff all the upperclassmen got. Ate at ease in our room. It was pretty sweet.
