I have an interview with my local congressman's panel tomorrow and I feel extremely nervous. I've been reading unsettling passages about candidates with LOAs that have been denied a nomination from all of their nominating sources, and I'm really nervous that I could end up in that group.

Are there any tips that you'll all can suggest that may help ease the nerves a bit? What type of questions to expect, etc.?

LOAs are hard to come by. You showed something to the Academy that made them want you before thousands of other candidates. Show the the MOC board what you showed the Academy and you will have a great chance of getting that nomination. This forum is only a small sample. By far more applicants with LOAs get a nomination than the few that do not. Be confident, be yourself. Good Luck.

Thank you, 5Day

OP: Take some deep cleansing breaths before going in. Breathing is critical to calming yourself. Remember, everyone else in your position is just as nervous.

Good luck.

So I received two nominations (Senator and Representative) and the Rep's nomination came from one of the most competitive districts in North Carolina. What I truly believe got it for me was I decided I wasn't just going to give them answers I thought they'd want to hear. I was as honest as I could be, and I didn't take myself too seriously. Now obviously you shouldn't just go in there and goof off, but don't forget, every interviewer across from you is a human being, and if you can show them that you are too, and not just some USNA GO NAVY robot, I truly believe that level of genuineness is what will sway them in your favor. Any Joe Schmo can go in there and list off their 100000 accomplishments, but to show that there's a real person behind those accomplishments who cares about what they're doing, that's what I believe they're looking for.

Thanks for the response. I'm in North Carolina as well. Would you mind sharing which district you're in?
