I just noticed the the USNA has two dates reserved for late graduation. One in August & one in December.

Is this to say that they do allow MIDN a little more than 4 years to earn their degree?

Delayed grad is very rare. Usually it only happens for people who have disciplinary issues precluding commissioning on time. Some of the guys in my class who did delayed grad because of conduct had committed offenses that would have been severe (but not dismissal-worthy at any other time) and the Academy deemed there wasn't enough time to adequetely "punish" them the normal way, so they end up with a few months to stew about it as MIDN before they're allowed to graduate.
Once you pin on O-1 and head out to your first unit/training command I don't think it matters at all, but it would suck pretty hard to not walk with your class/have to explain it to your family.
Occaisionally athletes (or people with medical issues) are given delayed grad because they couldn't complete academic requirements over four years due to scheduling.
