So I was reading on the Naval Academy website and it seemed like you could only pick one so I was wondering which one you thought was better and would give you a higher chance of being assigned as a marine officer, also, what is the differences, similarities? Ect. Thanks in advance.

So Leatherneck and MAGTF are two separate experiences. MAGTF is when you are embedded in a Marine Unit for a month and Leatherneck is a training everyone who wants to go Marines has to go to. Leatherneck is a chance for the Marine Corp to evaluate you and see if you would be a good fit. You spend a month down at Quantico going through training. A MAGTF cruise can be anywhere in the country and your experience will vary greatly depending on the Unit you are placed with. You can do both trainings. MAGTF you can do as a 3/C , 2/C or 1/C while Leatherneck you can only do as a 1/C with a few exceptions for 2/C who are also trying to go special forces. I wouldn't worry about it until you get to the Academy. The biggest thing is showing continued interest in becoming a Marine which you can do without doing a MAGTF. You have to do Leatherneck.
