Letter of Assurance

I just received a Letter of Assurance for the USNA Class of 2022! Does anyone know of any people who receive a LOA and don't get an appointment? Also, what do I do now?
On your CIS portal there is a place that says "required actions" Typically at this point most LOA recipients need to obtain a nomination .Once the "Required Actions" have been fulfilled you will receive your appointment. Congrats!

Congrats.

Although getting an LOA is a relief, mjm is correct. You still need a nomination source. If you read this forum, you will see cases of applicants getting LOAs and then not getting a nomination.

Also, you still need a greenlight from DoDMERBs, which depending on your physical and medical condition could very easy or problematic.

Congrats! Complete the items required and don’t let off the gas. Take your nom interviews seriously. Knock them out of the park. It is rare for someone with an LOA to not get an appointment, but it has happened. It’s usually if the candidate is in an extremely competitive area or the candidate doesn’t complete something, ends up being disqualified due to DoDMERB or CFA, or they don’t take their Nom interviews seriously and fail to obtain one.

Terrific!!! How were you notified of your LOA? Good work...
Notifications for LOA at USNA are by email . The email tells the candidate to login to the CIS portal where they will find the "required actions" to be taken. Once logged in to the portal the status says" Conditional Letter of Appointment LOA"

Hi,

My DS received an LOA in October 17 for 2022 class. All items are complete with no waivers required. When would he expect an offer of appointment and is the offer snail/email or portal? Tx

Nom all set?
Take a look back at the Class of 2021, Class of 2020 appointment threads on this forum. You can see trends when appointments come out, who had LOAs, etc. We’ll start seeing early ones now, then coming in waves through the spring, then the last spurts as prep schoolers and college re-applicants roll out.

DS should enjoy senior year, stay fit and healthy, make no bonehead decisions - he is in a good place. Many will advise to continue with Plan B and C paths until appointment in hand. Injuries and unexpected things do occur. If something prevented him reporting on I-Day, what is the back-up? Something to ponder.
