Just got a letter of assurance to the class of 2024!

What does this mean in terms for the future? I know it’s not a guaranteed chance to get in, but I was wondering it anything (like GPA going slightly down) could revoke the LOA.

Does anyone have any experience with this? Thanks in advance.

Calm down. Congrats.

Are you 3Q?
Do you have a nom?

If yes to both you are in. Congrats.

As others said, your LOA should state what conditions must be satisfied. Once they are satisfied then you will receive an appointment. If I had to bet, this late in the game, guessing your are waiting on a medical waiver? Congrats and fingers crossed it becomes a full appointment soon!

Do they give late LOAs for athletes too?

Late LOAs overall are not nearly as common as ones in the fall. Same for athletes because recruits can vary in their level of recruitment from the coach saying they have interest to a blue chip.

I don’t think I’m waiting on anything at the moment. My portal just says “complete pending review” and I don’t have any required actions or special instructions

I forgot to mention that I’m a late recruit as well, I didn’t know that they gave these letters as I am a reapplicant and I did not get one of these last year

Sorry when you say this late in the game do you mean most should have been notified by now? Everything in my application is complete: multiple SATs and ACT scores, good CFA, Congressional Nom, qualified for all medical, letters of recommendation. Nom was submitted Jan 24th.

No. LOAs generally mostly occur on the front side. Because once we get to Feb and beyond Noms have been submitted, apps are
Completed and a lot more medical waivers have been issued. So at this point it’s appointments that are handed out unless someone is awaiting a medical waiver.

It says none for me.
Congrats! My DD received an LOA on March 21st last year. Same as you, portal did not list any further requirements. She contacted admission and did not hear back. On March 28th her portal stated she had received an appointment. No guarantee yours will go the same way, but this was her experience. Congrats and Good Luck! Side note, she received a hard copy of the LOA via snail mail some time later, followed by the BFE

If you satisfy any conditions noted in the LOA, and are fully qualified, you should get an appointment offer. Even if there are no conditions, you are being “assured.” Though the statutory language for USNA does not absolutely require them to make an offer, they will generally do so.

LOA revocation - don’t do anything foolish, such as alcohol-related incidents, drug experimentation, reckless driving, get arrested, etc. Just stay the course. A bit of GPA wobble shouldn’t derail you - remember Admissions looked at all kinds of things to evaluate you.

Focus on what you can control, tend alternate plans, enjoy friends and family.

If you have an LOA and just need medical - what usually is the timeline for the waiver process after receiving the LOA?
