I just received a Letter of Encouragement (LOE). I have a couple questions.
-Is this s good thing?
-Does getting a LOE give an advantage for an appointment?
-Should I do the overnight visit?
-How competitive does this make my file?

Thank you!

- Yes, but it’s not to be confused with an LOA. It is exactly what it is - encouragement to keep going with your application.
- Not necessarily.
- Yes. The more you know, the better a decision you can make.
- No way of knowing. Focus on what you can control, continue to do well in school, stay healthy, don’t do anything bone-headed, PT to reduce stress.

If you can afford the over night trip, I highly encourage it. After your over night you’ll meet with an admission rep. This is valuable! You’ll review your application and they can put a face to the name.

TRIVIA: To the Cadets you’re called a “drag”.

If at all possible do the overnight visit. DS was set on USNA and did their CVW. Was invited to do overnight at USMA as part of his LOE and did it in order to rule it out. He came out of the visit with that as his 1st choice by far and is now a member of the class of 2022.
