LETTERS BEING SENT OUT THIS WEEK FOR NON SELECTS (NROTC)

So, to clarify, all alternates will be notified of their decision within 10 days?
I appreciate your tenacity and resilience. The board will wrap up this week, and then the final tally must be presented to our Admiral. Depending on that review, all the notifications will go out shortly after that. I believe the service academies are rapidly sending out their own notifications, and so the goal will be for all of the alternates to be informed as quickly as possible. But I am hesitant to set a specific date, because everyone will literally mouse click the netfocus server into a coma on that day, and then you will all dislike me (or dislike me even more) for giving you a false date.

But because of my extended spy network, I am aware that you, in particular are attempting to join the highly esteemed Capital Battalion. To the degree that ethical fairness will allow me, I can assure you that you will receive the royal GWU treatment if the NROTC gods favor you. My Gunnery Sergeant is looking over my shoulder and wanted me to pass along that he hopes you have a good pair of running shoes............;)

Perhaps you could pick up a few hobbies to help destress your life? 😏😎

Ok, you can put down the brick.......I was attempting light humor. Our final board commenced this morning, so in a week to 10 days, this season will be a wrap.
No worries, I'm sure you're well aware us seasoned military spouses try to laugh so we don't cry 😜. I appreciate your updates and engagement with this group of worried parents and students. In general my hobbies these days include sorting and purging stuff in the house, bugging DS & DH for updates and complaining on the internet. Perhaps the dogs need another walk like someone in the usna waiting thread mentioned...😂

You should do what most military spouses I know do during stressful times. Just let the DH know you heard there's a sale at the PX/NEX and you're heading over to fill up the car. It's even better if said DH is away and can't do anything about it.

Awesome update. Good to know that the light at the end of the tunnel is getting close. Ether the end of the tunnel with a scholarship, or the light of the train hitting us in the forehead without. ;)

That would definitely get his attention! 😂 but also counter productive to my goal of getting hhg closer to the weight limit. Can’t afford those overage charges if we have to pay for at least the first year of college! Haha, joking joking 🙃

Soooo ... those who still show No Decision Has Been Made ... what exactly are we still waiting for??

Check out page 3 of this thread. GWU PNS provides a good update on post #52. Basically we are alternates waiting to see if a spot opens up. Most spots will be awarded end of next week(hopefully), but some others could trickle up in May. Good news is that we are still in the fight!

Is there any way to be certain my DS application has been reviewed and he’s actually in alternate status? Anybody he could call? He has emailed his ROTC coordinator and she just told him they have until the end of April to make notifications.

If his portal says "No decision has been made" then it is ready to go before a board and he is a alternate at this point. All we can do is wait.

Some of the early applicants(sent in application well before deadline) got Alternate status notifications, but not many.

Thanks for replying. So, this status means his application is ready to go before a board … meaning it hasn’t gone before a board yet? I thought you couldn’t be an alternate until after you’ve been reviewed by a board.

Does annybody know about the nursing option scholarships yet? I applied for the Navy rotc - nursing option scholarship and my application was seen in early March and I was hoping to see a change in my status by the end of March but it still says “no decision has been made”. Are they releasing all the nursing scholarships together or do they release them every now and then?

The whole board process has been covered a couple of times on SAF much better than I can explain, so you might want to try searching for more specifics. I'm just not confident in my knowledge to explain the entire process without fear of being wrong about something.

Best advice is that there is a good chance you will know something by end of next week, but it could be longer. Until your DS gets a TWE or non select change on portal, he still has a chance.

I went on the normal website and it prompted me to start a new application. But, I went on the scholarship status website and it says no decision has been made still. Would it be safe to assume I am an alternate then?

Is this a guarantee that we are alternates? Meaning we will be awarded a scholarship if a slot opens up?

Thank you for trying! I know - this whole process is confusing and it's difficult to find definitive answers - though I truly appreciate all of the help and guidance that @GWU PNS graciously offers us. My son got a TWE from USNA yesterday, and I'm still feeling it. Disappointed ... unsettled ... and a little impatient with the whole ROTC process. Here's hoping we all receive good news soon 🤞

I got my TWE from USNA yesterday as well and am in the exact same boat as you with NROTC.

If you have not gotten a TWE and portal show "no decision", then you are a alternate right now. We still have a shot.
