Letters

Received first letter!

It was short and to the point. Basically said every minute of their day is planned. He wrote it at night.

Said the only muscles they don't make you use are the ones you use to smile with (said it tongue in cheek). Also said the mental aspect was more difficult than he had planned for.

Finally said he was looking forward to Sept. Tone was good and seemed to be in fairly good spirits.

Just received my first letter

Hi All,

I just received my first letter from my son in 101. He sounds good, and is having a great time...it is sooooo good to hear from him!

My son is in 102, can you tell me what 101 said? I have written him daily but he has not. did not send him envelopes. Should we?
 
OOPS, I forgot to include that yes, I sent him with stamped, addressed envelopes to us, his grandparents, and his girlfriend, with extra labels, paper and envelopes too...I shoved those in his bag with all of his stuff that he had with him for Indoc... So, I am not sure if they have access, but I did read that they could go to the Navy exchange and they do sell envelopes, paper and he can get stamps at their post office...
 
Would it be possible for you to forward that list to me as well? I think my DS is in 2nd company, but not sure. I have been "studying" the pictures! Thank you!
 
Could I get a list too, possibly? My best friend is in 202 or 302 I believe. She traveled alone so her parents didn't get to find out either. It is great that we have this forum to help each other out, we're a team in this and it makes it much easier.

first letter

We received our first letter and he seems to be in good spirits. He did ask to send more envelopes. :smile:
 
Just got two letters too. I guess they mail them in bulk or something. He's in 101 and he said its really hard at some points but he still enjoys it. And everyone is making friends with eachother.
He says one of the parts he hates most is the 2 minute shower at 6 am. lol

Shutterbug, my son is also in 102 & we got our 1st letter today. Most important thing he wrote is PLEASE send care package of food...enough for 37 pc's + 5 DI's. I sent you a PM with more details.
And we did give him stamped, self-addressed envelopes with questions listed.

Is it okay to send care package during indoc? What things are you allowed to send? We baked enough cookies for everyone, but then were told they are not allowed to have care packages during indoc, and when they can receive packages only specified food items can be sent, not cookies. Anybody know for sure?
 
we also got a letter today! :) I also sent self addressed and stamped envelopes. Our letter was brief- I made a form letter that only requied circles and short replies.... my DS is one of few words. All he asked for was letters from us... I've mailed one everyday since we dropped him off.
Inclined to think he is in 1st company.... but that has not been confirmed.
 
Alex14Mom, you might want to change your name so he doesn't get in trouble with whatever you post, especially if he IS in company 1 or any other company.
 
I have not received any letter from my DS and think he is in 4th co but not sure. Would it be possible for me to get a copy of the list?

We recieved a letter today. My son is in company 2 . He had to find an envelope and stamp. I had packed some self addressed stamped envelopes in his bag but they seem to have disappeared.:
 
We have not received a letter but it is nice to hear that others have and especially what their DS/DD have said. It helps me to know what my DS is doing and how he also might be feeling or experiencing. I won't find out until computers are issued and/or Parent's Weekend. My DS is a guy of few words unless he is with his friends or siblings. hahaha
Thanks to those parents who are sharing their DS/DD's words.
