This is absolutely a "call admissions" event.

Do you have EVERYTHING (including medical) done already? Where are you on nominations?

If that was a mistake, it's pretty unfortunate to say the least. Hoo boy.

Ok I contacted my BGO and his portal is still reading LOA. I'm guessing it's just a glitch in my CIS portal.
Happy Dance at LOA tempo authorized. Once you complete conditions and see 🤞offer of appointment, full Happy Dance at dervish-pace authorized.

Wow congrats!! looks like your are the first one received LOA from USNA for the CO '29 this year?

Daughter's early LOA (snail mail) was conditional upon completion of all other requirements. Medical DQ and letter from USNA rescinding LOA. Medical appeal processes successful and fulfilled all conditions for appointment. Sempre Fi🇺🇲

How far are you into your application? Did you complete your BGO interview? Completed all SOE requirements?

Just offering my son’s anecdotal experience. Hopefully it will help avoid stress for future candidates reading this thread worrying about LOAs.

My son got an LOA later in December. He needed a waiver. He called admissions in January and was asking them questions about the waiver process.

She couldn’t tell him anything, but she said she would check his file. She told him he got an early LOA. He said he got it December so it wasn’t early. She laughed and said an early LOA isn’t based on the calendar.

She said it is based on the reason for the LOA. The early LOAs are based on the record. And are issued early after certain aspects have been completed. I don’t what checkmarks need to be done to get an LOA. My son submitted the last item in December.

After reading someone else’s discussions on here, I assume it is based on the WPS. I also assume the other LOAs are based on the needs of the navy at various times as they are putting the pieces together.

1. Don’t worry about LOAs. 90% of the candidates don’t get them. And once inducted, everyone starts equally. Nobody discusses LOAs at the Academy.

2. Don’t compare your stats with someone else that got them. You don’t know why they got it.

3. Don’t try to read tea leaves. You don’t have all of the variables.

Portal also changed from pending to incomplete. Will be checking with BGO tomorrow. Application complete; medically and physically qualified. Just waiting on nomination.

My kid got his LOA the day after Thanksgiving. Nom, BGO interview, and medical were the conditions. BGO was already done, just not in the system, he was waivered for medical.

He told all three MoC panels he had received an LOA. No joy. Did not get a single nom. Got his TWE at the great purge that year.

I understand this happens some times, but I still don't know how. If your son got an LOA, he obviously must have been an amazing candidate. Competition in your district was that tough, he didn't make the top 10? Or did your nom sources use principal nominee system? Any ideas of why that happened in your opinion?
