LOA received this morning!

My son also received a LOA that reads like this. He also received his nomination and has cleared medical. Does that mean he's good to go? Should he continue pursuing ROTC as well?
At a minimum, until your son receives an actual offer of appointment, he should pursue alternate plans B, C, etc. Congrats to him on getting this far.

In all likelihood, yes, if all blocks are checked.

He should still pursue ROTC until offer of appointment in hand.

He should still have an alternate plan until late in the cycle, in case of injury or illness that DQs him from reporting into USAFA. In those cases, Admissions usually works on a readmission plan for the next class with the candidate. There are cases of this every year, and late spring threads about how long to hang onto alternate plans, and the eternal “bubble wrap or not to bubble wrap” dilemma.

My daughter received a "decision" letter in her portal today and we are wondering if it is an LOA? The lingo is:

Congratulations! Based on an initial review of your academic and extracurricular record, the
Office of Admissions believes you have the potential to be a successful cadet at the United States
Air Force Academy.

In order to complete our assessment of your entire record and determine if you meet the
remaining admissions standards, we are asking you to submit all your remaining admissions
requirements by December 25, 2023.

Once your file is complete and you have satisfactorily met all of the Admission requirements, I
plan to move your file forward in our Admissions process. You may go to your online candidate
portal or call your admissions counseling team to determine which requirements still need to be
completed.

She completed DoDMERB but it's not been posted yet and she has to complete her CFA. All the rest is completed. Is this an LOA?
My daughter first got an LOI. (what you have above) then she completed her interview with her ALO and everything but the nomination. Then the LOI was taken down and an LOA was put up. It states:
"Congratulations! You have been approved for admission to the United States Air Force Academy Class of 2028. You are assured of an appointment once you secure a nomination and satisfactorily complete any remaining admissions requirements."
Best of luck!!! My daughter just got her NOM for USNA today and already had the LOA - so it looks like it will be "Go Navy!" :)

Just our of curiosity, roughly how long did it take for them to put up at LOA? Also congratulations!

The LOA came after everything except the nomination was submitted (her last Item was the ALO interview) and it took 2 weeks after that.

Update...last week our Representative called son at school to say he was informed of a pending appointment. The USAFA appointment was posted to portal on 12/5. It was immediately accepted, no pause or questions asked!

Looked like they are still handing out LOA. My DD just received one this morning. Also, the academy will let the Representative and Senators know of their desire to appoint her for the upcoming class year.

We received an Offer of Appointment to the USNA, but nothing from USAFA yet. Although, she only officially completed up her application before attending the Falcon Visitation Experience.

First off, I’d like to thank everybody on these forums for all the valuable info., insight, experiences, etc..this is a very stressful process for the entire family. My DD is vying for a spot in the class of 2028 to multiple SA’s. Here is a brief timeline of the USAFA to date:

1. Nov 1st - all application items in except CFA, Noms and still had 1MOC interview to go
2. Nov. 15th - portal showed “decision” it was the “letter of encouragement” asking to have all items submitted by Nov.25th
3. Nov. 17th - submitted CFA score
4. Nov 21st - Decision LOE letter disappeared and Application Kit 100% complete showed up.
5. Dec. 1st - Last MOC interview
6. Dec. 11th - Decision box re-appeared. It was her LOA, the difference between the LOE and LOA is very apparent
7. Dec 12th - Nomination from Senator showed up green in the portal..not a phone call or letter

We are obviously in the wrong state/district. In all likelihood, DS won't know final decisions on noms until the very end of January. MOC interview (Senators don't conduct interviews in my state) were 30 days ago. The wait is excruciating.

One common theme in our state was all the MOC’s team of handlers did express empathy over how stressful this process is on the candidates and stated they would have noms in before Christmas and they are delivering on that.

Hi and congrats on your good info! I'm curious who your "Representative" is?? Is this like a member of Congress? Senator? someone from USAFA? Whose calling your Son prior to an appointment? Is this a common occurrence? Does everyone get one?

thx!

How did you find out Senators in your state don't interview? Was it on their website or did you ask? Just curious to see if I can find out whether mine interview.
