LOA? USNA

They can come any time during the cycle. And, as always stated, they are a nice to have, but not necessary. Just because someone gets an LOA, it does not mean they will actually get the appointment. There are requirements to be met in them usually, and not all meet them. (Ask me how I know).

It's already the second week of October, so if I haven't received a Letter of Assurance (LOA) yet, does that mean I have no chance of getting one?
I'm feeling the same way. I know that not everybody gets one, it can happen anytime, and that the end goal is an appointment - thats really all that matters, but I know so many applicants who have received - this year and past cycles. I had my application submitted early August, with BGO and Dodberb done by mid August - so I'm feeling like if I were to get an LOA it would have happened already, although my status in portal just recently changed to complete-pending review. I just wish USNA gave out LOAs like USMA! I have back up plans as I'm sure we all do, but I cannot apply ED to my back up plans - which are highly competitive too (and applying ED would have been helpful) An LOA would just be great to have to make me feel reassured that I'm moving in the right direction and that not applying ED is the right decision (I could ED to school and do ROTC). I know we are all in the same boat. You are not alone feeling the way you feel. Its not an easy process at all.

My DS is still trying to decide what makes the most sense for him moving forward. He submitted his application but just has the BGO, Nomination and Dodmerb to complete. Quick question, when you click on "Withdrawal" in his application portal it states "I have made the following decision regarding my offer of appointment, If you wish to accept your offer of appointment click to accept or decline" then goes on to say this is irreversible and that spot will be given to someone else and give your reasons for declining. I imagine this is nothing and is just standard language when one goes to withdrawal their application?

You need to look more at the positives. My DS didn't even have a BGO assigned until late October/beginning of November and DODMERB and interview were not complete until the beginning of December. This despite the fact that he applied as soon as it was possible. The fact that you were essentially done with your application before summer was over is phenomenal. Focus on your plan B and what you can control, or you are potentially going to have a very long and stressful evolution until April 15 (ish).

Thank you, I know you are right and I really appreciate it.

Did anyone receive an LOA last week or this week? Curious to find out if they are still rolling out.

my guess is this is the normal language on the withdrawal button - bc it would be impossible for your DS to have an appointment without nomination and DODMERB completed. I hope your DS has decided how to move forward - my advice is follow through with the entire process and then see what happens. I have a firstie this year and USNA has been the most incredible experience! Worth every minute of effort and stress to get that appointment.

Perfectly stated. Every candidate has a different experience and journey. Hang in there until the final word.

Hi Everyone! I wanted to share that I received an LOA yesterday!!! It came through by email and on the portal. I shared with the MOCs and I am focused on securing a nomination so that I can ultimately earn an appointment! very thankful!

Congrats! Such a wonderful feeling to get that.

Hurry the process - we still have the first slot available on the DIY list, as it continues to accumulates posts! ;)

Any LOAs to PA residents yet? If so, please let me know if your DS/DD is a recruited athlete and what part of the state you are from.

TIA!!

Play the broken record…it’s futile to try and figure out how or why individuals get LOAs…asking for those individual’s stats, what part of the state, if they are recruited, when they submitted their application, etc. bears absolutely NO insight into WHY they received an LOA. Your time is better spent pondering something else!
