I know this is asked every year and I looked for it in recent posts and did not see anything…I am seeing that USMA AND USNA have been sending out LOAs. Has USAFA started sending any out?

LOA’s really don’t ever seem as popular for USAFA as the other SA’s. Anyway, that’s not what you’re looking for anyway and there just aren’t that many of them. Do the best you can in every single way and the chips will fall where they are destined to. Good luck…

Thank you! Yes, I have noticed they seem to be few and far between. I was wondering if there was a trend of when they started going out. More curiosity than anything.

There is not a "time" when USAFA sends out LOAs. They are sent out at different times of the year as USAFA deems necessary. Most people don't receive them. They are a tool used by SAs to show a commitment to a targeted candidate. Taregeted candidates are typically a blue chip athlete, or a desired demographic, or a special combination of factors--we really don't know, and probably never will. Most appointments are given to those without an LOA, so don't waste your time expecting one.

Fellow applicant for c/o 2026 here, It says in the Instructions to Candidates for this year that they start handing out early appointments in October; the LOAs might be different this year because of the different platform. Who knows! Good luck on your app!

My DS 2025 received an LOA in the middle of Oct. Really nothing special about him other than being so well rounded he's pointless😃😃 He also had a 1 Nov CGA appt. I honestly don't know why.

LOAs are not common. They are given based on various criteria. You don't need to be an athlete in order to get them.
The timing really depends on when you submitted your application and when the academy reviews it.
Sometimes LOAs are given later in the process.

Your goal should be to receive an appointment. LOA doesn't guarantee an appointment.

Good luck with your application!

A Letter of Assurance (LOA) for USAFA requires a complete review of the admissions package. This unlike a LOA for West Point or Annapolis. USAFA is in its first year of using the Sales Force platform and the Target X application. Expect that LOAs will be slower than normal. USAFA is sending some Letters of Interest (LOIs). These are similar to West Point and Annapolis' LOAs.
