USMA superintendent to retire

WEST POINT – Lt. Gen. Robert Caslen, Jr., the superintendent of the US Military Academy at West Point, will leave that post this summer after completing a five-year stint and is expected to retire from active duty at that time. Typically, the superintendent’s position is the last stop on an Army officer’s career prior to retiring.

A new superintendent has not yet been named, West Point officials said.

Caslen, a 1975 graduate of West Point, became the 59th superintendent on July 17, 2013. Prior to this assignment, he served as the chief of the Office of Security Cooperation-Iraq.

He has served a distinguished career in the Army holding numerous leadership positions and earning several awards and decorations during his career.

He has served longer than most Supes and done it well.
Oldest serving active duty Army officer from what I read.
