Mail Question

Hello all! Had a quick question about mail, specifically during Basic. The letter we received with the PO Box said to address the mail to 'Cadet DS#2' without any year designation. DS#1's mail (in 2012) was sent with 'Basic Cadet DS#1' until the end of Basic, then begin using the year designation 'C4C DS#1'. Is this a change or should I address his mail to just Cadet? Don't want to risk any 'undue' attention...

Thanks!

In the Instructions to Appointees handbook, under the mailing section it says to address all mail to Basic Cadet ____. I would assume that this would last until A-Day, then at that point it would be addressed to C4C ____.

Even though it was a mere year ago, I honestly cannot recall how we addressed DD's mail during basic. I would recommend following what the letter says to do since all other basics will be getting the same information and therefore, your DS's will most likely be addressed per directions. The only other thing we added on the address was DD's squadron to make it easier during "mail call".

After A-Day, the cadets are no longer Basics, they are C4C's. You definitely do not want to address your cadet's letters/cards as "basic" once they have been accepted.

Ahhh, Instructions to Appointees....forgot about that. Yes, it does say to address to 'Basic Cadet'. To be safe, we will go with that until A-Day. Thanks for the replies.

Thank you, I wasn't thinking when I wrote that. Edited for clarification.

After "A Day" I don't think it really matters how you address their letters/packages as the Cadets retrieve their own mail from their personal mail box. I believe it is only relevant during BCT as the Cadre are involved in mail distribution......

Safe bet is "Basic Cadet..." until after A-Day
