I am hoping someone has experience in this area and can offer some clarification.
DS has been awarded a 4 yr AROTC scholarship and is awaiting DoDMERB paperwork. I found in the medical standards information the following statement of a disqualifying condition:

Absence of one or both testicles, congenital (752.89) or undescended (752.51)

What if there is the absence of a testicle which is neither congenital or undescended? DS had one surgically removed at age 3yo due to a torsion. No residual problems, implant placed after puberty.

Does this still fall into a DQ situation?

Any experience in this area would be greatly appreciated! I have already gathered the records from the surgeon and urologist so that we are prepared in the event they are requested.

They will likely request further information (which you already have); however, I don't think it will cause any significant issues. They may want an updated visit from a urologist.

I would explain it well on the forms and they may not need anything further.

Thank you for sharing your insight. I know nothing is ever a guarantee. I just knew he couldn't have been the only young man to face this. I know it is rare, but I was hopeful someone might have some insight to share. I appreciate all the knowledge I've gained on these boards throughout this entire process.

Update

Just wanted to update in case anyone else faces a similar situation. DS initially received a remedial request from DodMerb, but no documents requested from us and then 3 days later his status was changed to Qualified. We couldn't be more relieved! The help and advice available on these boards is invaluable! Thanks to everyone!:thumb:
