I was assigned to NASS Session 2, and my dermatologist prescribed me medicine that I'll need to use during the session. Should I let them know what type are used and to have them contact my dermatologist? Also, my mom told me I should send pictures of the skin condition even though I think it's unnecessary. Any thoughts?

Also, for people who attended NASS, what is the swimsuit needed for?

I cannot answer your question about the medicine as I am not well informed about that subject.

The swimsuit will be used for an evolution during NASS called "Sea Trials" which is meant to be like the real "Sea Trials" culminating physical event for the plebes at the end of their plebe year.

First, unless your condition or the medicine impacts your ability to fully participate, or poses an issue to your continuing health or safety, I would be reluctant to volunteer the information. You are better off asking your doctor whether you should report this , rather than this Forum.

If asked, you should always tell the truth. Perhaps someone that has attended NASS recently can tell if there is an initial medical screen when you first check in . (I would expect there is, and preliminary screens usually ask what medications you are on).

Finally, there are numerous threads on this Forum discussing skin conditions ranging from Eczema to Acne (and probably others). I am not going to venture to provide medical advice (particularly when OP doesn't identify the condition involved), but will suggest that you be proactive ...starting with reviewing the applicable Medical Regulations with your doctor to determine whether the condition is disqualifying. If the condition is disqualifying, you may be able to work with your doctor to develop a course of treatment that gives you the best shot at a waiver.

Very, very good advice here. Some ‘common’ dermatological medications (ie: acutane for acne) require a minimum time for treatment to have been stopped before medical clearance ( I am assuming there will be an application for USNA ‘24). So it would be a good idea to figure that out (search forums for common derm condition experiences), and work with your doctor for a course of treatment.

I do not know of any disclosure of medications is required for NASS. I have a second DS attending this summer, don’t recall any. But neither one of them was/is on any medications. So can’t help there.

Last year when I went to NASS there was no disclosure for medications needed. On check in day I don't remember there being any medical screening, but if for some reason you are asked, don't lie. But, as far as I remember there was no one asking us for medical information. As to your second question, any swimsuit will do. Last year I brought a simple one piece swimsuit and that did the trick perfectly.
