Will I receive an email stating that I have been offered an appointment or not? Or will I only receive a TWE or BFE?

Anytime between now and mid-April, assuming your application is complete, you are fully qualified (USNA does not tell you) and you have a nom:

- You might get a call from your elected official, if that’s your nom or one of them, so answer unrecognized calls. USNA usually gives elected officials a few days to call. Elected official may or may not call.
- Your portal will update.
- BFE arrives at some point.
- If you don’t hear anything, you are still in play.
- USNA will have informed the vast majority of candidates by mid-April of either the good news of the bad news.
- The “TWE” or thin white envelope, may be the bearer of bad news. I think USNA still uses paper, but it may have changed to The Worst Email.

In the next month or so, no doubt some hopefuls will let us know how they received the bad news.

Remember it’s only bad news THIS YEAR. There are those who re-apply until they age out, so it all depends on how strong the dream is.

You will receive a notification through email that your status has changed. It is different for everyone, some get calls from Congressman and that’s how they find out, some get a BFE first, some may be told by their BGO, and so on. I received my notification of denial on the April 15th date through email, a TWE, my last time applying. Others may have better input than me, but this are the typical ways it seems people are notified.

Yes, some will start in February for candidates that didn’t complete their application or didn’t obtain a nomination...then they will continue to come out until (and after) April 15.
