Military/Naval Academy Differences

i've tried looking at the marines website, but im still confused by the branching for women into the marines. i know women can be anything but SEALS in the navy, but does anybody know what jobs are restricted from women in USMC?

The professional topic of the week just so happens to be Marine Corps Personnel and Training.

Ground Intelligence
Infantry
Artillery
Tanks and Amphibious Assault Vehicles

Women are now being allowed to go to the Infantry Officer's Course (IOC), but will not be awarded the infantry officer MOS (0302) if they complete it. Instead once theoretically completing IOC they go on to their assigned MOS school and head out to the fleet like nothing happened.

Jobs previously closed to women at the battalion level are now being opened to female officers and SNCOs as well. So, while a female officer couldn't command an infantry company, she could be on the infantry battalion staff in a role directly tied to her primary MOS, such as logistics, communications, etc.

Hurricane is correct in her descriptions for MOS's available for female Marines. In discussions with my Marine it appears that the Marines are rolling the programs out in a deliberate manner and selecting with care Female Marines that will have a high probablity of succeding in the expanding combat roles.

Speaking of MOS. Hurricane are you far enough along at TBS to know your MOS yet? Also, you going to be stationed on the East or West Coast?

. . . .

Not so fast.

According to the Marine Corps Time, two females volunteers, both did not complete the IOC. The plan is to have about 100 female offcer volunteers to go through to establish the POI.

if you want to do it...

I don't understand everyon'e concerns with stats and numbers and jobs and chances! If you want to do something then set your mind to it and do it. There is no room for guessing the percentage of a chance of getting something in today's military, just make a decision and do it. If you really want to lead Marines then do it, if you really want to fly then do it, make a DECISION.
