I'm concerned about my DS weight, he is very thin and a late bloomer and only starting to pack on muscle. He's currently 117 pounds and 5'10. Would appreciate any advice regarding DoDMERB and
admissions policy on weight requirement.

If he doesn't make #135 this year but he's starting to grow he can look at it like many others facing an academic denial: go to college for a year, show improvement and reapply. In his case he'll really focus intensely on dessert rather than calc or whatever, but the same principles apply. Academies love re-applicants.

Edit: It should go without saying that "improvement" isn't just some clownshoes fat guy weight increase, but a well-rounded healthy, athletic, and academic proof that he can handle college.

Start drinking Boost Plus and get a letter from PCP saying he doesn’t have any physical, mental, or emotional problems that make him thin; he’s always been thin.

Reminds me of a story. It was 1944 and my father graduated high school early in December. He was going to turn 18 in March and didn't want to be drafted to become "cannon fodder" in the Army. So, he enlisted in the Navy after passing the "Eddy Test." He was only 17 and was the only son of a single mom, who supported the family as a union garment worker. My dad was 6'2" or 6'3" and 137 pounds (I got a copy of his enlistment application.) My grandmother didn't want him to go and would only sign the enlistment papers because she was sure that the Navy wouldn't take him because he was too skinny. But they did, and he got only 24 hrs notice to get on a train to Great Lakes. His dress blues had to be taken in so much that the pockets in the back would overlap, so he had to have a tailor re-cut them down the sides. The photos of him are hillarious. What a bean pole.

My Dad would tell me his mom was always giving him chocolate pudding with heavy cream to try to fatten him up. He did eventually fill out. Your DS will too. I know you want it to happen sooner rather than later, but be patient. I always say "you can't be too rich or too thin." But, maybe the Air Force disagrees.
