Son is scheduled to board sea year ship this Thursday; Merchant Marine Credential has not arrived; can't board without it. Academy says they sent everything to Coast Guard; National Maritime Center (which processes credentials) says they have no record. Son is trying to locate Coast Guard rep at Kings Point. Anyone have contact info, advice, anything?

Son needs to have names and ask those specific people who they sent it to. Who at the school sent it in, did they send it to the REC or directly to the NMC? The NMC website has a tracking system for credential processing.

KP needs to help fix this one. The school should have some contacts at the NY REC and the NMC that can be called upon to expedite production of a cadet's MMC in a situation like this.

I have seen the NMC churn out a license renewal in less than a day once the NMC was informed (and admitted) that they lost the application and that the applicant was in jeopardy of being put off of the ship that he was assigned to. The key was that the applicant was able to resubmit all of the required paperwork.

Be prepared to miss the ship that he is slated to go to on Thursday until his MMC is sorted out. There will always be another ship...
