In August my son received a Naval Academy Foundation Scholarship to Marion Military in Alabama. He had hoped to still get an appointment for this year but it didn't happen. I'm not so sure this isn't the best thing for him anyway as the people who spend a year in prep work seem to do very well.

Perhaps someone who knows something about the process can tell us what to expect from here. All advice would be appreciated.

My son is just finishing up his year at MMI on a Falcon Foundation scholarship. I can echo that it is a year well spent. You don't have much to do at this point other than fill out the paperwork that MMI sends and wait till early August when he reports. He should stay physically fit over the summer, but just enjoy your time with him. The year at MMI will help him with being away from home, academics, teamwork, physical fitness, and living in a structured environment. He will make great lifelong friends that will attend each academy the following year. We just attended appointee orientation at USAFA in early April and I know my son feels well prepared and excited about the future. Feel free to PM me with any specific questions and I'll be glad to find the answer for you.
