MO NROTC 2nd board results

All still quiet on MO board results...I guess the point someone made about the academy being late has probably affected ROTC board. I would think that would have more of a significant effect on the Navy side since MO isn't guaranteed at USNA.
The MO results come out towards the end of March. USNA has no impact and is completely unrelated to the MO boards.

Based on older posts on this forum, most of the decisions came out in early April last year. That's also when a friend of mine got theirs. No news is good news at this point.

Yeah...I did read read that, I guess I was just hoping that somehow that was a lingering affect of COVID world last year. 🙂 Most of the schools my DD applied to on her ROTC list are sending emails almost daily to send a commitment deposit or accept financial aid or housing deposit, etc. The timeline just doesn't sync well with the college application process if the ROTC applicant isn't selected in the 1st board. It is what it is I guess and should be first of all, proud that she wants to do this and second, grateful that such an opportunity exists.

How so....if a MO NROTC candidate also applied for the USNA and was appointed and that applicant accepted, would that not free up a scholarship for a MO NROTC spot?

None of the various boards talk to each other. We live in stovepipes and we thrive there. The MCRC team won't know about a service academy selection unless the candidate tells them.

which would free up an ROTC selection right? Maybe I should ask it this way...statistically compared to other applicants, how many MO NROTC applicants apply for other scholarships or academies? My DD didn't apply for any...her plan B is a 3 year MO NROTC from her school battalion or plan C is PLC. She has zero interest in any other branch.

No - the boards have already met - results will be out this week or next (based on previous years). They are completely separate processes. The USMC has this figured in to their offers.

Thank you...that was a great no fuss no muss answer that makes sense.

Happy to help. It's complicated when you are pursuing multiple SAs and ROTC scholarships. Hopefully you will get some good news in the coming weeks.

Of course. Posted for other readers on this thread. Never hurts to call out the obvious so others can benefit. Semper Fi!

Dang it. You jarheads got me all excited thinking the results were out with all the new activity on this thread..... :)

The NROTC application asked if the applicant was applying for other ROTC scholarships and service academies so the boards have an idea of what the applicants are doing. If awarded a MO NROTC you have to accept it within 30 days, at least that what our contact told us.

They may be aware of applicants applying to multiple schools/scholarships, but they don't have visibility into the results. As far as accepting your scholarship, the advice is accept all of the scholarships you earn. There is a big misconception that turning down a scholarship will make that scholarship available to another candidate - it doesn't work that way. Accept the scholarships and decline them when you are 100% ready to move down that path. A lot of things can happen that may change your options (DoDMERB being one of them). Best of luck.

Just got an update in my portal, so I'd imagine you'll hear soon. Not selected but that's my own fault for deciding to go for it so late. Time to start my college program applications. Good luck!

Yup...same here :( She will be crushed but...I sort of expected it. Her ACT test scores were not great.
