Hey y’all I know I shouldn’t be asking this and it won’t do me any better but ever since I got renovated I just have to know what my chances are for getting a type 7 scholarship. What would be the average for a typical recipient. My major is Computer Science and my first career field choice is TACP Officer. I have a 3.09 unweighted gpa 3.2 weighted, 1300 SAT score, I got an 86.5 on the PFA, I’ve done Varsity sports for the first time junior year and still continuing, I’m the Muslim Student Association president, National Latin Honor Society secretary, film club secretary, Model UN delegate, was part of the speech and debate club, was part of FBLA, and a C/MSgt in the Civil Air Patrol. I’d say my interview went well the captain was very engaged with what I had to say and I didn’t Sound cocky or nervous at all. I know my academics are below average but hopefully the extracurriculars and the interview would offset it. I understand if y’all don’t want to do it I just have to post it for a the peace of mind. But if you do reply I thank you deeply.

Your PFA score is too low to be competitive for anything SOF. Target an 8-9 minute 1.5 mile (maxing situps and pushups) to get in the approximate zone you need to be.

Honestly, I'd suggest enlisting into the TACP AFSC (or EOD, SERE, CCT, PJ, SOWT) and after a few years applying to a STO/CRO/TACPO position via OTS. Having SOF experience greatly enhances your competitiveness and you'll find you need that networking to push your package. There are a couple of AFSC's that can also get you into a support position in an STS, but don't count on those despite what a recruiter might tell you.

Old name for TACPO is ALO (ay-low).

If I read your post correctly, you've applied and are just waiting to hear back regarding an award, right? Doesn't really matter what I think.

Don't sweat it-- if you don't pick up a scholarship under HSSP, you'll have a second chance under ICSP. Think longer term.

Good luck.
