Hi Everyone!

I just wanted to give a quick introduction of myself for the forum. I've been a lurker for a while, but this is such a great community that I wanted to become a member.

I am a slightly unique candidate in that I will be graduating from college this May. In college I was fortunate enough to be the Captain of our women's soccer team where I made a family among friends. I was also a Resident Assistant, Intramural Basketball Captain, Teacher's Assistant, tutor, volunteer for the Odyssey Sports Complex, and worked three jobs. Bills add up when you're on your own! The thing that I most value from my college experience was getting published in The American Journal of Sports Medicine; my professor was so great, and taught me a lot about professionalism and hard work.

It took me a long time to realize that my dream was to serve our country. While I looked into the OCS route, I felt that I would personally better succeed learning leadership over time with the rigors of athletics and academics thrown in the mix. So, I began my application to the United States Military Academy in August, and I was so excited to receive an LOA and then word of my appointment for the Class of 2018 early this year.

I look forward to all of the challenges that being a cadet at West Point has to offer, and I especially look forward to the opportunity to get through them with my classmates. I'd also just like to say thank you to everyone on these forums, you've really inspired me to never settle when a dream seems far away. Your help and advice is so appreciated!

Welcome!
