Has anyone else been appointed to NAPS!?
-thanks
-thanks
I received my NAPS offer on February 19th, dated February 6th. Still waiting to hear back from USAFA, though.
Though, I am seriously considering the Navy. What field/major are you considering?
I'm going through the same thing. I met by complete chance a current USNA plebe who lived a mere 100 miles from me the other day, and hearing her talk about it made me want to go there. Choosing between the two would be a nice problem to have.
Right now, I am torn between three potential majors: aero eng, physics, and nuclear engineering (if I go USNA). As far as service selection, I want Marines. I don't care if it's ground or air (though air would be nice), I want to serve in the Marine Corps if I end up at USNA. If I end up at USAFA, I'm looking at pilot or intel.
Of course, this is all based on my own research and speaking with current/past cadets/mids, and is all subject to change during my time at either academy.

Thanks! My DS is still in the game but lacks a nomination. Odd that they dodnt aent the TWE yet so he's hoping for NAPS. His SAT scores are a little stronger. 610/650 cr/m

I received a Congressional nomination to both USNA and USAFA.
SAT: math- 550; verbal- 590
ACT: math- 26; English/verbal- 30
My low math scores are due to a lack of preparation. Standardized tests are all about practice, practice, practice. Hours of it.
As far as GPA is concerned, I have a weighted GPA of 4.0. I'm not sure what it is unweighted and I am currently in the top 10% of my class and have taken upper level math and science courses such as AP calculus and advanced physics and chem. I currently have 18 hours of college credits & I also have worked through the school year the past three years more than 16 hours a week. (USNA looks at the whole person as well).
I urge your son or who ever to buy a practice ACT or SAT book and study. The SAT test is going to be revamped in the next couple of years (supposedly it is going to be harder), but I also hear they are going to offer free services for the test takers.
If your son/daughter is serious, they will take the time to do this. This is where I failed (which probably cost me a direct appointment to USNA).
Hope that helped.
May I ask what state your nomination came from?
DS is still waiting…I am anxious for him.
