So I just checked my portal, and it says I have been placed on the NAPS waitlist. I'm still waiting to hear about a medical waiver; however, is it a good thing that I even made it onto the list, and if so, what are the chances that something will come of it? I know, generally, being waitlisted is not ideal, but I wasn't even expecting to be considered, so take that what you will.

None of us know. The NAPS waitlist has only been around a few years. So it’s hard to gauge how many get off the list. You on it until you aren’t!

Thank you for responding! Whatever the outcome, hopefully they decide before the end of the month. I have a lot of Plan B stuff to sort out haha

Rooting for you. Just to give you some perspective search, ‘Naps waitlisted 2027’ and read some comments. Decisions can go as far as into June. Just want you to be prepared. You might not get a decision by the end of the month so keep trucking forward with Plan A.2, Plan B etc …

If I'm not mistaken, the majority make it in (I think it was from 80-90%), assuming they have maintained above a 2.0 and good behavior

According to my friend who went to NAPS and is now USNA 2027, everyone who stays at NAPS until May gets an appointment.

Thank you for providing some perspective, that helps me a lot! I'm already in the middle of planning for next year's semester here at MMI, only hiccup I have is leadership (I've been selected for Company XO) as well as some scheduling stuff for classes.

All who meet the requirements. They have to stay out of trouble, no honor issues, pass the PRT and keep their academics above board. They will also have to apply for all non sources and I believe retake the SAT/ACT. Anyone who completes the requirements will end up at USNA. There will be some who leave by choice and others who can’t make the cut. Like any school, it’s learning how to operate as an adult, balance obligations and keep an eye on the prize.
 
DD currently at NAPS. Received a FQO for NAPS beginning of Apr 2023. I do remember some on the waitlist not hearing until June on final status. Approx 250 go to NAPS. 20 are Coast Guard Academy and 50 to 75 are priors (sailors and marine enlisted). Remainder are a mix of recruited athletes and just regular HS directs. Program is 10 months long. Requirements: minimum of 2.5 GPA and no failure in one of the four subjects (Math, Chemistry, Physics and Writing), passing the PRT and having a BMI within limits. Also, no bad conduct. One correction: no need to retake the ACT or SAT. Yes, you must resubmit for MOC nominations and VP and Prez if eligible and do the interviews if selected - if no nomination granted then the Secretary of the Navy will nominate. No need for reapplying to USNA as they use your current application. USNA will send out a new CIS portal userid and password before NAPS starts with everything filled in for the candidates - nice touch. Most who DOR do by December, usu for academics, rarely for misconduct. Of the 230 USNA M/Cs about 190 to 200 make it to I-Day in June the following year.
 
Thanks for that clarification. That is change from my time at USNA. Couldn’t remember if it had been removed or not on the SAT.
 
Yeah, used to be 2.0 and go, and we took the SAT as a group in the Spring. I never applied for any noms either, so I was either given a Presidential from my dad's service, or a SECNAV for my appointment. Of course, this was 30 years ago. :p
 
I could be wrong, but I think some athletes who didn’t hit the Patriot League minimums may have to retake the ACT / SAT.
