Anyone else waiting to hear decision about NASS application? I thought the deadline was 4/15/23. Thx.

My ds is still waiting. We never heard about a 4/15 deadline. Where did you hear that?

I believe the application deadline was yesterday, Saturday, 4/15. No doubt people were still submitting applications.

I am sure in the coming business days, final decisions will be made and applicants notified.

By the way, if your student is not selected for NASS, there are other great ways to see the Academy. One good route is by attending one of the USNA summer sports camps. Many of my students have participated in them across all of the SAs. Students stay in the dorms, eat in the mess hall, meet cadets and staff, and they also work with the coaching staff. Good luck!

Agree sports camps are a good way to get a glimpse of life inside Bancroft Hall, the main residence building, est in King Hall, where they will see midshipmen in and out doing summer training, summer school and with luck, interact with midshipman varsity athletes who often help out at the camps for their sport.

Same here !!! DS also applied in January.
Preliminary application is open now.

Not sure if DS's preliminary application (with new SAT score (over 1550 received last Friday !) ) will help to secure his NASS spot !

My DS did receive a confirmation email after submitting the NASS application, but has not received a decision. The USNA website states a decision should be sent via email no later than this upcoming Friday ("Selection is based on the overall qualification of the student. Students will be notified of their status via email no later than April 21." https://www.usna.edu/Admissions/Programs/NASS.php#fndtn-panel2-Steps-For ). Last year my DS applied for the Summer STEM program, but they didn't notify him of the decision until about a month after the date they said the notifications would be sent. Hopefully things are in better order this year.

my son applied for Summer STEM and his email confirmation said he would receive an update by April 15 (the end date for applications). I emailed on Monday and they replied all decisions would be sent out by the end of the month.

DS just got the email 4/26/23 that he will not be attending summer seminar.
My ds did too. He wouldn't have been able to go after accepting SLE, USAFASS, and Boys State but it was nice for him to get the final email. I think USNA does a good job with the NASS rejection emails explaining the competition and that most direct appointees do not attend. My ds isn't quite sold on applying to USNA yet so I'll be interested to see what he ends up doing.

My son received an email to let him know that he was on the waitlist....we will patiently (not) await to hear if there is a spot for him. Does anyone know how long we will have to wait?

We were told about Boy State but my son is not very interested. He is involved in other activities (Civil Air Patrol) that will hopefully fill the void of not doing Boy State. We got rejected to USAFASS but what is SLE?

I did as well. Bummer for sure, but it clears up time for other fun things, I suppose.
Remember: a rejection from NASS is NOT a statement about the competitiveness of the applicant. At all.
That's a relief!

SLE is West Point's AIM/Summer Seminar equivalent- Summer Leaders Experience.

Interestingly enough, I got a rejection email for SLE despite never applying. I thought the CQ was a separate thing from the SLE application but that's the only way they would have had my information on file. 🤷‍♂️

The SLE app is just the CQ and this year, they considered all CQs that were submitted before the deadline.
