Hi, its my first time on here. I submitted my application and was waiting for my cfa to go green. The day it did, Feb. 8, I received the fully qualified and placed on national waiting list correspondence. I've read that other candidates got this and were offered appointment rather soon after. Any thoughts as to how long it could be before I find out whether I was accepted or not?

My kid got the 3Q NWL letter on 11/24 and he still hasn't heard back. Use the search bar and search "National Waiting List" and you'll find lot of encouraging info while you wait. Hang in there.

It could be a while before you hear or it could be tomorrow. I was placed on the NWL in November and received my appointment Jan. 26, but I have also heard stories of people receiving an appointment the day before R-Day. You may want to ask your MALO what they think about your standings.

We’re allowed to ask our MALO/outreach officer where we stand?

You can ask them anything you want. However, whether it is wise to do so, if they respond to a certain question or can respond to that question at all depends on many factors.

IMO, here it is unlikely he/she will say even if they do know.

I think the FFRs know the relative strength of the applicants in their district. Whether they reveal this is another thing all together. My son, who is now a 2020 WP grad went to his congressman’s academy night in early Dec of 2015. I was with him and we met his FFR...great guy with a 20 year active duty career after WP. He told us that the district had at least 2 LOAs already and didn’t know where my son stood. He did not have an LOA. One month later, 5 -6 days after receiving a letter from his Congressman about his nom, he received his appointment phone call.

DS placed on NWL 18 November and appointed 12 December.

As it was explained to me on this forum. Every candidate is placed on the NWL after qualified. The next step is candidates getting appointed from the list. It can be days or it can be months. If you look at the numbers though, the chances of getting appointed once on the NWL are a whole lot higher than they were the day you submitted the application. These are last year's stats. I think the SAT score information is misleading because it includes all admitted students. If they broke it down into two separate groups Recruited Athletes/ General Students the numbers would be more informative.

Agreed. I wish they would separate the stats about between Recruited Athletes and General Students. It would give potential candidates the real picture of what it takes to get into the academy.

Great to know this. Our FFR is also a WP alum and retired military officer, really nice person. He told DS where he stands in the competition in our district (most competitive district in one of the most competitive states in the nation). DS is also 3Q+norm and waiting for his result anxiously...
