I'm very interested in diving. How many grads from USNA or NROTC get Diver each year? 5%? Thanks!

You cannot become a diving officer unless you either enlist and eventually go LDO (limited duty officer), become an engineer, or enlist then make chief then get commisioned as a warrant officer. The diving community got taken over by EOD so now for example NDSTC (naval diving salvage training center) where all divers get trained is commanded by an EOD officer. same thing goes for diving commands such as MDSU-1; commanded by an EOD officer. Also you no longer have diving officers commanding salvage ships. It's civilian run now.
to wrap it up, the diving officer community has changed alot and unless youre an engineer, LDO, or warrant; then EOD officer would be the way to go if you want to work with the enlisted divers and be in command at diving commands such as NDSTC, MDSU-1, MDSU-2, etc.
