Shout Out to Navy Womens Rugby Team!

They are currently in Blaine Minnisota at the Womens Rugby National Championship Sweet 16 tournament. This is Navy's 10th or 11th consecutive appearance in the sweet 16's.

Just got the word from my Mid, Navy beat Colorado State 41 to 18. Navy moves on to the group B finals and will play BYU on Saturday. This will be a slugfest beween 2 of the top teams in the nation. Winner moves on to the Final 4 tournament in Palo Alto, California.

Go Navy Beat BYU!

As an FYI for the future class of 2015 women, this is one of the top club sports teams at the Academy. They are a very succesful and tight knit team that travels and plays against the best teams in the country. In recent years they have traveled to England and Ireland to prep for the Rugby National Chanpionship Tournament. Check them out durring your plebe summer.
 
I recently saw pictures online of one of the Womens Rugby team games. They are amazing athletes. Go Navy! :thumb:
 
Wish I could say Navy won the BYU game but they did not. BYU beat Navy in a very hard fought game 7 to 0. BYU came into the game averageing about 40 points a game as the #3 ranked team in the nation. BYU heads to the Final 4's while Navy heads home and will finish the season as either the 5th or 6th ranked team in the nation for the 2011 Championship season. Overall a very sucessfull season.

This years team was very young, with over half the team made up of plebes. For the incomming girls of the Class of 2015. If you are interested in a goal of playiing for a National Championship check this team and sport out.
 
I have 3 women's rugby players who live next to me in company and I am proud to say that they are some of the toughest girls I have ever met anywhere. NWR doesn't always get the attention it deserves but will always have my respect.
