Unfortunately, DD’s high school counselor needs a bit of hand holding. DD has told her numerous times the deadline for submitting Feinstein nomination is October 1st. Yesterday DD nicely asked if her letter of recommendation was submitted ok. Counselor says she put a note on her calendar to submit it on the due date. What?!! Any ideas how she can ask her to get in today without sounding demanding? Thanks!

I would have your dd speak to the counselor in person and tell her that this is extremely important to her and she would be much more comfortable if letter could be submitted today. This way, in unfortunate circumstance there is a "glitch", it can be resolved in time to meet the deadline.

That seems like she doesn't understand how important it is..

After a polite talk with the counselor in person, I would go over his/her head to the administration if nothing changes quickly. The stakes are high here.

Done. DD sent her an email asking if she could send the recommendation in today just to ensure it makes it in on time in case of any issues on their end.
we’ve had to stay on top of every request so this is no surprise.

Per Feinstein's app:

"Two letters of recommendation: one from a counselor or principal and one from a teacher or coach. Please have your recommenders email their letters to AcademyApplications@feinstein.senate.gov directly, with your last name comma first name in the subject line."

1. Email is ok, so you are still "ahead" of the curve (not by much); and
2. Plan B: Does DD have a good/great relationship with her Principal? If so, go with that ASAP.

Carry on.
