Just saw this come down, thought it might be interesting for past, current, and future flight studs and their families.

In my personal opinion, I think this is really neat. There is a lot of history in the VTs/HTs and I think showing up to Primary and seeing aircraft painted the same way as in museums drives home the organization you've been selected to join. I also like the fact that there will be some homage paid to our brothers and sisters in the USMC with the checkerboard design. The grey paint jobs for Advanced aircraft will also drive home the fact that while you're still in flight school, you are now being trained/molded to fly an operational asset in the very near future. As an orange and white alum, I am bit sad to see it go since it has history in its own right. However, I think it is a great step forward. Plus, ditching the orange and white allows you to keep some style points pulling up to the FBO on your CCX. 😂

Interesting..I always thought the Orange and white was for visibility purposes ..the airspace around Pensacola gets pretty crowded,
I think it is. However, air traffic control, aircraft technology, and course rules were less robust than today's aircraft. Sure, there still is some applicability in the VFR regime, but with TCAS, Foreflight, constant ATC and company comms, and detailed course rules, even the basic contact flight is pretty procedural and controlled from a separation perspective.
