Newbie question

Hi,
I have tried to figure it out and even went to the list and can't find it. What is a LOE? What is the difference between a LOE and a LOA? I have only seen LOE used on the USMA forum not the other SA's.

LOE=Letter of Encouragement. It means you are competitive & are authorized to make an overnight visit, but not guaranteed an appointment.
LOA=Letter of Assurance. If you get a nomination & are 3Q you will receive an appointment.
