We're planning on going to Menendez/Booker academy info day tomorrow and was wondering what to expect. How should DD dress? Will she be able to speak to them? Anyone have advice on what to do and not do, etc.

Thanks in advance

DD wore a suit to her interview. Your DD probably doesn't need to wear a suit but no jeans or shorts. Khaki pants and polo, skirt, you just don't want to appear like it doesn't matter to you. I'm not sure if they will be there. DD didn't see any MOC during the interviews.

Go with an open mind, ask questions if you have them. There will be some BGOs there to talk with.

I don’t know specifically how NJ is but we went to one in VA that was sponsored by our congressman and one of our senators. Our congressman was present and our senator was not. They had a slide show presentation and representatives from each SA speak and then they had a sort of “fair” with each SA had a table and representatives were present. It was a good opportunity to meet the service academy staff person from from our senator and congressman office as well. DD worn dress slacks and a blouse if my memory is correct. Several people on our congressman’s selection board were also present and DD was able to speak with them. I just hung back and she went to different tables and spoke to the representatives she was interested in speaking with.

Will she be able to speak to them?
She will probably not be able to speak to the Senators as they do not usually attend this event. It is generally run by staffers with help from reps of the different Service Academies. The selection committees (interviewers) are not part of this event.

Anyone have advice on what to do and not do, etc.

Listen and ask questions after the presentations end and the event breaks down to the individual groups for each academy.

Senator Booker was standing next to the aisle we were seated in and my DD and I stood and turned to him and had a nice conversation. She told him her goal of being the first female Navy seal and he was very impressed. Menendez didn't really chat with anyone.

Its good that they both were there but they both rely heavily on the results of their interview teams.
