No chance for SMP with a low GPA?

I am in the middle of a sophomore year and not joining ROTC yet. After some research to relieve my tuition, I found the SMP non-scholarship would be the best fit and possibly a good opportunity to build up my career as well. So I talked to a ROO and he connected me with a NG recruiter so I'm currently in a process of joining the NG.

However, until yesterday, I realized I'd been misunderstanding about the SMP. I thought it was a simple process to become one ONCE I joined the NG. Because my recruiter told me they could put me in the program if I finished BCT and AIT so I thought it was their discretion. but I found out that is not true so I did more research hoping that I could find a loophole, but I guess I have to accept the fact that I'm in a tough situation to get a contract successfully.

The biggest obstruct would be my GPA, 2.5/4.0 which seems to me very frustrating. Many posts here already helped me get the overall picture and I understand that it can differ from schools, battalions and else. But I wanted to reflect my chance on being contracted to your actual experience so I can modify my plans with more details.

Thank you in advance for your kind help.
