DS Has received 2 Nominations - he can see them on the WP Portal. He received an email each time to notify him of each Nomination. He has not received any letters from MOC/Senator - is this normal? (So he has no knowledge of where he is on the list...)

First, allow me to congratulate your son on receiving two nominations - quite a feat!

As long as the nominations show up in the Candidate Portal, there's no need to worry. In my case, I received a letter from my Congressman about a week and a half before the nomination was displayed on my portal. However, I also know of candidates who received the nomination in their portal before hearing directly from the source, so it can go either way.

To my knowledge, where a nominee stands on the list is usually not disclosed in the letter from the nominating source. There are a few cases I know of where the MOC has contacted the principal nominee to notify him of his status, but everybody else on the slate is virtually in the dark as to how they are ranked.

Again, congratulations to your son on the nominations! Go Army!

It’s MOC dependent. This year and last year I was made a competing alternate and they told me in the letter they sent.

DD received two noms, one sent a letter and it arrived before it showed up on the portal. The other did not send a letter, it just showed up on the portal later. The letter did not give any detail as to the slate, etc.

Lol....I know exactly what you all are talking about... went through the same feelings with my 2018 and 2019! Best advice I can give is to as best you can.... enjoy this last semester with you son or daughter. Regardless of their destination, to get to this point no matter what, they are going to be exceptional. Do your best not to project your stress on them. Enjoy the little things whether it's family dinners or neighborhood activities or church.... whatever family traditions you have.. make the most of it cause one way or another, they will be off on the next chapter of their lives. So laugh a lot and enjoy every minute you have. Stressing won't accomplish anything. Best of luck and God bless!
