I applied for a service academy congressional nomination. I have not heard back from anyone. Should I contact them now? My deadline was back in November? I’m not really in a competitive areas so maybe they are just putting it off till last minute.
 
SA nom deadline is Jan 31; cant hurt to reach out to your MOCs.

Last year DS heard from MOC early by letter but USMA portal never updated; turned out there was a snafu and MOC office had to resend to SA.
 
What state/district are you from? You can check out the thread State Nomination Threads -Moderated and see if others received an email, call, or letter from your Congressman.
 
I heard back from CA-38 on December 5 that I received a nomination for USAFA. Portal hasn't updated yet. Should I be worried?
 
Noms don't have to be in til 31 Jan. so don't worry if it's not on your portal yet. This year mine took almost 3 weeks to show on my portal after I received it from my MOC.

Throughout the process I tried to keep in touch with the POC for my senators’ offices (mostly because I was anxious about hearing back). I emailed the poc on Tuesday, and got a call about ten minutes ago saying I received a nomination. This is in Alaska, so also not a super competitive area. I’d give them a call just to see when you can expect to hear back. Good luck!

Is it helpful to receive a senatorial nom on top of Presidential? Does DS receive additional points in his application?

It is helpful to receive an additional nomination, but you won't be receiving additional points per se. It helps because it gives the Academy more flexibility to where your appointment can be charged. Essentially, it is another slot you could win.

I have a presidential as well, but the way it was described to me is that only 100 appointments can be given to people with presidential noms so they may wait to see if you get a congressional nom as well to save those presidential spots for those who do not receive additional nominations.
