Non-Rated to Rated before Commissioning

I was wondering has anyone ever know of anyone who received a rated slot before commissioning? Long story short, I retook the AFOQT to improved my pilot score, ended up failing. Approved waiver to retake for 3rd final time, destroy every category and pass. HQ tell my commander to put me back up for Subs “We have a lot of left over slots”- HQ. I commission in less than 30 days. Is there any hope for me? I really want to be a CSO (score:71). Or will I just end keeping my current AFSC (61A) and end up at Holloman...

If HQ told your commander to put you back up for subs, then there's hope. They're the ones making the decision after all, not us.

It is possible....I know someone who got an RPA slot like 3 weeks before their commissioning, and then a guy who got missiles, then RPA, then CSO....all finalized like 2 weeks before commissioning

Not to hijack this thread or anything but I do have a question that pertains to this subject. Say if you were picked up for an RPA slot does that mean that your name and info gets pulled out of the pool of people for rated board selection, do you stay in the running to be upgraded to CSO/Pilot, or does your commander have to put your name back into the running?

From my experience you’re still in the running. Had a buddy picked up for ABM then later was given the chance to change to CSO. Just has to be before you commission. Also know a guy who got RPA then bumped up to Pilot later as well. Your name stays in the the running until commissioning.
