Norwich 2021

Hi all,

I submitted my deposit for Norwich University and am now officially enrolled in the Class of 2021. I'm excited for my rook year, but a little nervous. Any advice on what to do, bring/buy, how to prepare for rook year would be so helpful.

Get in shape! If you go on the Norwich.edu site, search packing list, and there is a list of what to bring and what not to bring. It may or may not be updated for your year yet, but will give you an idea of what you need. Boots (not sure if it will still be the Desert Tan, or the new Army color) and black shoes are the big things you will need to purchase. We got the initial boots on ebay for less than $40, so you can look around and get some good deals. There should be some suggested brands/models on the list. There is a phone number and also email someplace on that site for the uniform store. The people there are VERY helpful if you have questions. I am sure some current students will chime in here at some point - I am "just" a mom of a Junior. Congratulations!

Train by taking the APFT.
You will be graded on it an can set the tone for Rookdom.
Don't be that guy that fails.
Be the guy that maxes.
If you can max the APFT the Corps of Cadets PT will be easy.

I'm curious, when did you apply to Norwich? I applied mine in December, received an email early January that said I got accepted but I am still waiting for the acceptance letter.
