Hi,

No one has started a conversation about the packing list for Norwich, so I just wanted to start one and ask a few questions. It says civilian clothes are not allowed, so we cannot bring any at all? Even pajamas? Also, it says to bring a wristwatch. Are GPS running watches/ smart watches allowed? I doubt they are, but just wanted to make sure. Thanks to anyone who can help.

I have a senior at Norwich and an incoming rook . No civilian clothes at all. You sleep in PT clothes. No smart watched, just a good old Timex.

Norwich Cadre here.
No civilian clothes at all. You will sleep in PT gear.
Watch - if possible make sure it can keep time/date/stop watch/countdown timer.
Smartwatches are frowned upon but okay. GPS/running watch, go right ahead.

Also BRING A FAN. Desk fan. no more than 8-10" diameter. You will love it.

Also, I am arriving early since I got an ROTC scholarship. It says I should dress business casual for the dinner, but should I wear the khakis and dress shirt for the rest of the day, even though it's not rook arrival day?
Thanks.

It says that you may bring civilian clothes to do presentations in. This can be taken loosely. Dress shorts and a collared shirt (polo style) will suffice for your daily wear prior to Rook Arrival Day. Its best to NOT look like a rook on campus prior to actually being one.

Hi Kronk! Go Wareham Vikings! Where are you these days?

I've driven through that little piece of rural mountain nothingness where Norwich is located. Terrified I would run out of gas, for lack of service stations on Route 12. Makes Montpelier look like Boston by comparison. Burlington must seem like NYC.

My question: Who needs civilian clothes when there's absolutely nothing to do off campus???

Enlighten us to the doings in the metro-Fairfield area.
