Some of you may have read my previous post about all items still needing to be processed since forever. DS submitted the actual online application this summer. In December he was told the recruiter had everything, didn't tell DS to schedule an interview. I told DS to do that after receiving guidance from this site (I'm sure it was probably in application instructions or something), so he did in January. Interview was completed.

Feb 16th recruiter emailed DS that his chief was overnighting his package and would be ready for Feb 22nd board. His status didn't change. DS emailed his recruiter on the 24th asking what his status was. He confirmed that nothing was actually sent out then. Friday, the 26th, items finally disappeared from his list of items needing to be processed. One item left, the Officer interview. DS has emailed both his recruiter and the officer who interviewed him twice since Friday to find out what's going on. Crickets, nothing The next board meets Monday, so another board not ready for.

I did email the help desk and did reach a real person. I've let her know of my frustrations and DS has emailed her as well.

I'm at a loss for words. I don't know what happens after the interview and who's responsible for processing that information? I wish I knew of somebody else DS could contact to expedite this remaining bit of information. There's not anything that can be done without the interview portion.

Vent over... UGH!!!!!!

Just curious...what state do you live in? Wondering who your recruiting coordinator is. The one for my DS was really bad.

I’m in NC. I think my coordinator had NC, SC and part of GA. Not boarded yet for NROTC. He has been boarded for AFROTC and decision are suppose to be released tomorrow 🙏.
We had to beg for an interview. Only one school ROTC ever returned his emails and calls. Finally got it done over the phone during the last week. The entire process was so much smoother with AFROTC than with NROTC.
Good luck to your DS. I certainly hope everything works out.

My oldest is at school on an AFROTC scholarship. Their process spoiled me as it seemed so flawless.
I know this is a new software system for NROTC, but still. I’m more disappointed at the fact his recruiter told DS his package would be ready for the Feb 22nd board when he had to have known it wouldn’t be.

Good luck to yours! My son already accepted his number one choice school, so he’ll go even if he doesn’t have a scholarship. I know he’ll try really hard Freshman year to get a 3 year one.

OP, please stop the drama. please don't waste energies and act like a victim here - Take effective action - I see an opportunity for you and your DS to actually resolve this.

Candidly, it's unfortunate you did not confirm the tracking number when this "overnight shipment" was to happen, as was recommended and as a result you've lost a few more days that could have been avoided - and now will miss another board, maybe.

also, contacting the help desk isn't about venting - it should be solution based - there is a disconnect, the completed interview is not showing as completed. Your recruiter and interviewer are not responding or when the recruiter responds what he says has no substance - this needs to be resolved. Your son's future should not be penalized because of incompetence.

I recommend reaching out to the help desk. You can waste more time if you want in ignoring the guidance already shared or you can take EFFECTIVE action. But you have more control over this than you are portraying, Just work daily now to escalate and fix it.

I would also contact the recruiter, ask for his supervisor's email and phone number and work with the supervisor, recruiter, AND the help desk, daily, to drive this home. If he refuses then call the help desk and report that too.

Tick, tick, tick- that's the sound of time that is running out as each board passes. No sad faces at the end here - my son faced a similar challenge and it stinks it took this much effort but my DS is already living his dream because he took action, daily, to drive and fix this so he had every option on the table he wanted. You should do the same or he can miss a 200k scholarship and compete as a college programmer next year. If he falls short on grades/ interview score etc fine but not over this - take action and fix this .

I have been in contact with someone from NSTC. She stated that she emailed the recruiter herself. When DS asked the recruiter for the tracking information, that’s when he stated that it wasn’t actually sent out.

DS email over a week ago asked for information that you’ve suggested. He has even called and left a voicemail.
This will be resolved.

I appreciate your words of wisdom.

The interviewer is in charge of sending status, interview notes, etc. To whomever it needs to be sent to. Tell DS to email the interviewer ASAP to figure it out.

Supposedly it was a new one who took over in September. We live in Virginia.
I believe we probably had the same recruiter in the mid-Atlantic region. The whole experience has been very, very frustrating and exhausting. They kept losing the already submitted documents and the applicant had to recollect and resubmit them again and again, including transcript, references, and officer interview results. Communication was little to none. NROTC was the top choice at the beginning of this process, but after so many months of frustration I can totally understand why the applicant has finally made a different decision.

Thank you for your information. DS has emailed the interviewer 3 times and twice within the last week without any response.

Unfortunate to hear. If DS is still unable to figure it out, best thing to do is call whomever you can. Much better than emails. Hope you figure it out, best of luck.

Its unfortunate it didn't get there in time but I would highly suggest not emailing people on your son's behalf. It doesn't look good the the people working the review boards for a potential cadet to need their mom or dad to resolve their problems for them. This has been confirmed to me by multiple people who work on this boards.

Let your son handle it. Help him help himself, but don't get involved directly.

Don’t worry, my DS has emailed Pensacola and others. He did receive word today from the Officer who completed his interview that he sent his information again to the recruiter.

We live in Virginia also. Where also having the same problem. Couldn't get anyone in the area to do an interview. We actually called one of the schools on my sons list and they did the interview and sent it in.
