Notre Dame Class of 2026 - NROTC

Congratulations! DS1 Class of 2017 ND NROTC now a helo pilot; DS2 Class of 2021 ND NROTC now a Student Naval Aviator in Pensacola. Be sure to mention your scholarship somehow in your application or via contact with the admissions representative for your area. DS1 had an ISR and was admitted to ND early action, knew about admissions before scholarship. DS2 knew about scholarship after 1st Board before even completing his application to ND. I can't say for certain that having the scholarship helps with admissions, it is supposed to be a separate consideration; but I'm a firm believer that providing this information to admissions cannot hurt. Again, congrats!

DS accepted to ND class of 2026. Go Irish! I do think being awarded the NROTC scholarship after 1st board helped with admissions. Feeling really good that plan B is secured! He also got a call from our MOC yesterday notifying him that he received a nomination to USNA. It was a big day for him! If he doesn't get an appointment to USNA he will be very happy going to ND. If he gets an appointment it will be the hardest decision in his life.

Congrats! DS2 received nomination to USNA but found out late in the process he didn't get appointment. When all was said and done, he was so thrilled about ND, it did not matter and I can honestly say that experiencing college life and balancing NROTC were a much better fit.

I could not agree more. Same outcome with a real college experience.

Something I will share...DS1 2017 ND grad, now a helo pilot...deployed a good part of 2021, home now on leave for Christmas...engineering major at ND...actually said just a few days ago that ND really prepared him for what he is doing now mentally and for studying...studying never ends even after you get your wings...he's studying for level 3 and HAC boards....you have to balance work, life, and studying...he said his ND experience really prepared him for now...4.5 years post graduation.

Just found this thread, so checking back on what your son decided... Mine's still trying to make that decision with a week to go... Tough one!

Unfortunately my DS did not receive an appointment to USNA. He is Notre Dame bound! He loves ND and it has a super NROTC unit so all good. Good luck with the decision!

I'm sure he will love his experience there. Our DD loved ND and feels her engineering degree and the NROTC unit, prepared her well for the Navy.

Ended up on the waitlist for USNA, but I'll be probably doing NROTC at ND whether I get off of that or not. I did the admitted students weekend last week and had a blast.
