Notre Dame NROTC - Class of 2026

DS completed ND Early act app and NROTC app as well as USNA app (MOC interviews scheduled).
Like Tom Petty said the waiting is the hardest part... ;-)

DS said that ND REA decisions are being released Thursday @ 6:42 ET…..very anxious to see the outcome. MOC and Senator interviews complete but no nomination yet so very hopeful for plan B - NROTC at ND.

My son toured and visited with the NROTC folks at ND last year---everyone was wonderful!!! They have an outstanding ROTC program, and ROTC students are very respected on campus. Good luck!

@FlyNavy26 Ugh ND is a No for DS. A straight rejection, slightly surprised with his strong numbers. He added Catholic U to his NROTC list of 5 (Villanova, Rutgers, Boston College, Pitt, Catholic U) A plan 'B-' I guess :)
What's to be, will be.

I'm so sorry to hear that news. My DS was fortunate to be accepted. I think having already been awarded a 4 yr NROTC scholarship helped secure the spot. I know your DS will end up where he should but my heart aches for your family.

Thanks! All good. Still in running for USNA but a crap shoot from our district that has a bunch of athletes there and ultra competitive. DS had CVW at USNA last month and wife & I were blown away. I think ND being test optional hurt DS. A 1530 SAT and 3.8 uwgpa with all boxes checked to be a solid academy candidate (school pres, xc capt., Eagle scout, volunteer and club involvement) I'd have thought would be good enough for ND. What's to be, will be... Like you mentioned, he'll wind up where he's supposed to be.

I got placed there at the December board, but got deferred from REA - still not sure whether to count ND or USNA as "plan A" 😂

If you haven't done so already, make sure you reach out to your ND Admissions representative to let them know you have been awarded the 4-year NROTC scholarship there and share your excitement with them. Also speak with the NROTC representative there to let them know of your deferral.

Gaaaaaah DD is in the same boat. Still waiting on ND (where her NROTC scholarship was awarded) and USNA.
In the opposite boat here... Son got into Notre Dame in December, also got into Purdue, ASU, and every other college he applied to, but didn't start AFROTC scholarships until after accepted, but he was reboarded on the last board and now awaiting for the results of the current board to see if he gets it. Also waiting on USAFA, so I definetly get your stress levels. Good luck to all of you awaiting your decisions and congrats on the ROTC scharships.

Good luck to your son. If your situation is anything like mine, he's probably handling the wait much better than you are (I know that's the case at my house!).

Thank you and yes, he doesn't stress to much. He has solid backups plans and just believes in the process. He knows where he wants to go with his future and he has set up multiple ways to get there. Reading these forums is my stress relief, because I swear that boy only checks his portals once a week and I'd be doing it every hour if I was him.

Best of luck to your daughter, I hope that she has a bit of Irish luck 😉 when decisions come out tomorrow from ND.

@JudgeGuy - Don't forget Marquette. Because it doesn't have the brand recognition of the schools you cited (ND, BC, Catholic U, Villanova, Rutgers, and Pitt) it is often overlooked. Their NROTC program is solid and often had open spots. Depending on the college, they have some great programs. I know they poured a lot of $$ into Engineering lately.

I am a ND grad (and biased) but one of my kids went to Marquette so I have some knowledge of the school.

Best of luck to your DS.

Marquette is one of my backup schools - talked to one of their 4/Cs at a CVW who said he liked it there and they have a good track record with their students who reapply to USNA getting in.
