November NROTC board results known?

Any idea on timeline

DS is anxious as I am sure many out there are? does anyone know when the next set of announcements will roll out?

Navy have boards more frequently and they done publish dates. If you have'nt heard anything takeit as a positive. Also check the junk folder for the email CC have on file.

Floridadad: No I have not gotten an email yet. So basically what I am understanding from this is that, if the board members do not make a decision at the board, and roll you over, that can keep happening? And they will not notify you that that actually happened? So say I get rolled over time and time again, I would not know until they very last board in April? So it would be a last minute notification?

When you guys say a unit runs out of spots do you mean that a unit at a school is only allowed to have a certain amount of midshipmen or is the unit only allowed to have a certain amount of midshipmen on scholarship?

I'm currently applying of a NROTC scholarship. If I don't get a scholarship I still want to join NROTC and I just want to make sure that is possible.

The timing is the issue -- DS has five schools on his list -- accepted to four --- the fifth -- he has an option - go on waiting list for engineering or take an acceptance now to the Arts and Sciences and then transfer into engineering. If he accepts waiting list and does not get in -- he has no chance of getting accepted. We have to respond in two weeks -- we thought we would know the NROTC outcome by now.

Does NROTC have any influence over the final push OFF the waiting list? Should we contact NROTC at the school? Will they know prior to the DS?

Depends on the school. Some NROTC folks have the ear of the school, and some don't. The only way to find out is to call.

Will they know prior to the DS?

It is my understanding that the Navy recruiter listed on the face of the application is supposed to call the student first. Shortly thereafter, the website is updated. Then, the NROTC units start calling.

The waiting is more difficult for the parents --- I think -- at least from this thread. I hope we all find out soon ----

My D received notification that she received an NROTC scholarship today in the mail. We are thrilled and grateful! Good luck to all of you who are still waiting.

Still waiting

Congrats! :redface:Did the status change on the website as well? My daughter's still says no decision has been made yet. I guess we still wait.

Congrats to you and your daughter!

What school was her scholarship placed at?

Thanks! Her scholarship is to UNC which she listed as her first choice. She looked today after she received the notification in the mail and her status did change on the website but she is not sure when that happened. She used to check it everyday but she said it was too depressing and she stopped her daily checks a week or two ago.

I can sympathize...

I don't mean to sound resentful, but I'm truly confused as to whats happened with my NROTC scholarship (non-Marine option). I completed the application in mid to late August and haven't seen a change to my profile since.

My stats are as followed:
32 ACT best individual score
34 ACT super scored
35 Math 35 English 33 Reading 33 Science
2070 SAT--- 720 Math 710 Reading 640 Writing
93.9 GPA
VP Model UN Club
Editor in Chief of School Newspaper
Multiple MUN award winner, chairman
Selected to attend international MUN conference in the Netherlands
3-sport athlete--cross country and indoor/outdoor track

Prospective Math major and my top 5 schools are

1) Duke University
2) University of Rochester
3) University of Colorado-Boulder
4) Vanderbilt University
5) Northwestern University

I've already gotten a scholastically qualified letter and a nomination from USNA, but I'm seriously worried I might wind up with no appointment and no scholarship come April. Does the NROTC board give scholarships to more selective schools (Duke, MIT, Northwestern, Notre Dame, Georgetown, etc) later in the scholarship process? Is applying as a tier two major hurting my chances? Should I contact NROTC coordinators at my top schools and see if they know anything on my application status?

The recruiters were frantically urging my son to get his app done in time for the August board. He did, and has heard NOTHING since. Here are his stats:

SAT: 2220 (760CR, 660M, 800W)
GPA: 96.7
Varsity Letters: Sailing, Lacrosse (captain), Cross-country
Model UN
Model NATO (Placed 2nd as a Junior)
Military Awareness Club founder and president (sends care packages to deployed troops)
Spanish Club President
Numerous academic and community awards
Minority status (Mexican)

Nobody will talk to us, and I'm not convinced that anyone has even looked at his record. So far the Navy isn't making a very good impression on him.

My DS has similar stats and hasn't heard a word (SAT 1560 out of 1600 and similar ECs, etc.). With those stats, I am amazed that you folks don't have scholarships. There must be something else at play here other than stats. Did your DS happen to select pricey, "tier 1" schools as college choices? Mine did.

Dpt620 and alum dad, I surely hope you have both applied to the academies as well. Yikes! I remember back-reading posts this spring and the kids with these stats got welcome to the (fill in the blank) academy letters eventually. but I would ask if you are continuing to update with this years grades and accomplishments. My DS has received his appt to KP ( truly his first choice) and hasn't updated his NROTC file in the way he did his academy application and it worries me. He is still being considered but without all the recent updates it kind of surprises me. Not to be greedy I just worry something could happen between now and July 7th! Where is the knocking on wood smiley?
