I recieved my scholarship and read that I got the 4 year scholarship for NROTC-Navy Option. Now I recently found out I am DQ for partial colorblindness and the best way for me to get a waiver is be NROTC-Marine Corps option. My NROTC recruiter told me if I put down Navy I would be able to choose Marines when the time came. I always wanted Marine Corps no matter and now with the color blind DQ I need to specify my need now so I can get the waiver. Any ideas or similiar happenings for advice?

HELP

Before you make any decisions, have you contacted larry mullin? He is very helpful and could probably guide your thru this process, go to the dodmerb threads and shoot off an sos flare, this is larry's specialty. He is very helpful and extremely responsive.

Did you ever know that you were color blind? Did you take the Farnsworth Lantern test? If you did, are you sure that it was administered properly?

My son had some problems with the Farnsworth Lantern test.

inthenavy?

I never had any prior knowledge of my deficiency. I thought I was perfectly fine until I noticed I couldn't see one or two of the plates during the plate test. I thought nothing of it until I got my remedial paperwork in the mail. Then I started getting nervous. I drove down to a Coast Guard facility in Cape May, Nj. Took me almost 2 hours on one straight road. I took the Farsnworth Test and I failed. Needless to say I was devastated because I thought I was done for. I'm hoping to find a way around this. I can see certain shades of red and green all the time. I see stoplights fine but I suppose when they are up next to eachother I can't. The green and white colors they use are where I found the most problems during the test. What problems did your son have?
